Dr Rob is taking on new patients of all ages to assist with maximising sporting performance and for all sporting injuries.


Dr Rob Buckley is a Sports Physician Registrar with a passion for sports medicine. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine /Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Notre Dame, which he completed in 2009. Rob became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2015, during which time he undertook an elective in sports medicine and thoroughly enjoyed it. In 2019, Robert started the Australian Sports and Exercise Physician Training programme.

As well as his work with elite athletes, Rob enjoys seeing patients of all ages / levels of sporting participation and those with no athletic background looking for assistance with their musculoskeletal (bone, joint, muscle, ligament and tendon injuries) or sports related injury ( e.g. concussion). He will aim to diagnose and treat injuries, with a focus on maximising functional capacity and sporting performance.

He offers a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and can develop exercise and rehabilitation programs aimed at injury (e.g. stress fracture) and illness (e.g. Cardiovascular, Obesity) prevention, improved conditioning (e.g. strength, endurance) and declining athletic performance (e.g. Low Energy Availability). He has broad experience in non-operative management of orthopaedic conditions (e.g. fractures, cartilage pathology), but also has an extensive network of surgical colleagues, able to assist with operative management when required.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys running, cycling, and participating in triathlons. Rob advocates for an active and healthy lifestyle and loves the outdoors.
